The Story Behind sēlē

Hi, I'm Laura.

In 2007, while out on a run and reflecting on the loss of three dear friends, a ladybug landed on me.

In that small moment, I was reminded that life is precious and meant to be lived with purpose, gratitude, and courage.

During that very run, I began capturing story ideas in the notes app on my phone.

Those first notes became Ladybug Run—a story that stayed with me for years before eventually reaching children's hands in 2020.

After more than two decades working in healthcare and wellness, I became a mother in midlife.

Motherhood deepened the story behind Ladybug Run.

As I raise my boys, I’m learning that resilience grows through real-life practice—letting children try, make mistakes, get back up, take responsibility, pause, reset, repair, and keep taking the next small step.

What began with a ladybug landing during a run eventually grew into sēlē—a resilience brand built through stories, practical tools, and shared experiences designed to help children and families rise strong together.

From Pages to Practice

Stories often become invitations—to connect, to practice, and to grow together. As families enter the world of Ladybug Run and sēlē, they discover opportunities to:

• Build connection through meaningful conversations and shared experiences.

• Practice courage in trying new things and persevering through challenges.

• Navigate big feelings with greater awareness, compassion, and confidence.

• Repair, reconnect, and grow through everyday moments together.

• Care for themselves, others, and the world around them.

Because resilience is built through practice—and the small moments we share often become the ones children remember most.

Kids Matter Most

At sēlē, we aim to empower children to develop:

• courage to try, explore, and keep going through life's challenges.

• confidence to trust themselves and take the next small step.

• emotional awareness to recognize and navigate changing feelings.

• resilience to rise strong through setbacks and changing tides.

• compassion to care for themselves, others, and the world around them.

• A sense of belonging rooted in love, connection, and shared experiences.

Because the small moments of childhood shape a lifetime.

One Small Step at a Time

Running has taught me that growth unfolds through consistency, perseverance, and the courage to take the next small step — even when progress feels small and the path is unclear.

Those same lessons continue to shape my motherhood and the work I'm building through sēlē. Children discover courage by trying, confidence through experience, and resilience through the everyday opportunities to rise, repair, and begin again.
